It seems as though every time we go to the store we always need cat litter. With two male cats in the house its very difficult to keep the other males scent out of the box so the other male will use it. I rehomed a male cat his owner was moving and couldn't take him. So since I have like always wanted a Long haired Cat So I said yes. Well this cat is very territorial If the other cat potties, in the box he will not go. He had been using my floor or bathroom rug or anything he wanted to when he felt the need . I have found the Answer.!!! Just the Crystals Litter. I  now only need to clean the litter box after the kitties poop. The Kitty THANK GOODNESS uses this!  My Oldest Daughter has asthma and the litter box is in the kids Bathroom. Tips
The biggest variable in odor control in cat litter is your choice of crystal litter.  Using a premium crystal such as Just the Crystals and doing an occasional "rake and stir" will extend the life of your litter and reduce odor noticeably.  This is a very important point that can make a huge difference in both extending the life of your crystals and in reducing odors -- so important that it is emphasized on the side panel of every top quality crystal supplier. Stirring them around will allow them to release moisture to the air (not urine.....but water vapor) and will generally allow them to then be able to absorb more, smell less.
"Reality vs.. advertising" While crystal litter is very, very good -- the best way to get the most of it is to do an occasional stir of the litter and to rake out excess poops. Operative word is "occasional" -- maybe once every few days. It really helps, and is still worlds less trouble and smell than any other litter I've used. Cats tend to always urinate in the same spot, so what I mean by "stir" is to rake up the crystals from this dampest spot and distribute (really mix them in) with the dry crystals. This allows them to release moisture to the air, and extends crystal life significantly.
With our two cats Jack and Stan I do a "rake and stir" once a week, usually on Wednesday. Then on Sunday morning (after my first cup of coffee) I do a complete litter change.
Remember -- moisture is the enemy of your crystal cat litter. Placement of your litter box in a dry, well ventilated area will pay huge dividends in getting the most out of it.

A great tip from one of my customers to help you extend crystal life -- sent in by Chuck:
"Tip on making the litter last longer: good air circulation. Silica gel absorbs liquid fairly quickly, and releases it as water vapor fairly slowly.
When used as litter, it absorbs urine and desiccates solid waste. Unless the silica gel itself can dry out (by releasing water vapor), it won't last long at all in a litter box. So, it works better in the summer than in the winter, and better on dry days than rainy ones.
If you can place the litter box where there's a breeze, the litter will last a lot longer. Or, you can try what I've recently done: put a small fan above the box, so that it constantly blows air down onto the litter.
During the winter and spring, the litter has been lasting only 10 days with two cats (in the Summer, it was stretching out to 14 days). With the fan, in the Spring, the litter was still OK after 15 days.
The litter still needs to be stirred every few days, especially towards the end of its useful life."

A great deal of information about controlling litterbox ordor can be obtained from the great fellow cat owners at Litterbox Central (see below). My notes here are simply a condensation from that source.
Food
There are several factors that contribute to litterbox odor -- and probably the largest single component is what goes in to your cat. The right cat food can make a huge difference between a miserably stinky environment and one that's odor free.
More tips
Jim from Hawaii dropped me an email with his solution for a bit more odor control: he sprinkles a light layer of baking soda in the box just before pouring the crystals in. (Thanks Jim)
And Jenn from Litterbox-Central.com suggests another way to control the odor.......er..........from the "source." She's discovered that when her kitties have access to Vita-Greens that it most significantly reduces poo odors. Here's the link she suggested (thanks Jenn!!):

"BTW, since you’re an environmentally friendly type of guy, you might appreciate this tip (like no one’s ever thought of it before?!?!?!). The boxes that the two bags of crystals come in are the perfect size to collect and stash all of those catalogs, newspaper ad inserts, and junk mail that are headed to the recycle bin. If your trash company is a bit more particular and wants cardboard separated from paper, then it doesn’t take long to fill the box up with other cardboard (cracker and cereal boxes, empty boxes of Fancy Feast, etc.). I even replaced the small wastepaper basket next to my recliner with the Just the Crystals box for ease in recycling.
Since I’m on the recycling topic, it also pays to look for alternative recycling spots. My post office in Old Town Manassas, for instance, has a cardboard only recycling dumpster out back. Clean garage, dump boxes and then go check the mail. Cool. A neighboring county’s landfill has electronics recycling once a month. Best Buy will recycle electronics for a fee, but you get an equivalent value gift card in return."

The new craze is all about LED Lighting. I got to review a Earth  LED Bulb The ZetaLux 2 PRO is the Model I tested. I got the soft White. I was under the misconception that LED bulbs were Brighter and hard on the eyes. Boy Was I wrong. The Bulb I received was a “soft white” Version and the color and Light output of it was no different than that of the CFL. I have been using the CFL Bulbs for a while now. I jumped on that Bandwagon soon after the craze hit. Now I'm on another Bandwagon LOL LED Bulbs I need exactly 16 bulbs for my entire house.  The Bulbs will save you on electricity, Hey that alone should be enough to switch LOL They have a Life Span of  25,000 + Hours That's Nearly 20 Years!!!!!  That is of Course Running the bulb for 4 hours per day. The Cost Effectiveness of this is Great too.

Calculated assuming 8 Hours a day operation, 365 Days a Year with $.10 KWh Electricity Cost
How Cool is that ? That's What I call a Bright Idea.

My Husband has a bad back from an injury he suffered a few years ago. A tree He was cutting down Twisted and Fell on his back and rolled down his spine. He has since had many issues with his back. He also used to work on Racecars and when the car needed something in the pit On his knees he fell to get the driver back in the race. He also works on cars at his Full time Job and he works on Concrete daily, Up and down stairs to the pit to change oil. So he has major issues with his back and knees. Some nights I have to sleep with the Dreaded Smell of the Applied Pain reliever gels, Goodness The Stink!
He doesn’t take much prescribed pain medications because of the hours he works. So he would be able to get up and go without feeling like a ZOMBIE. So Here is Where arctic ease comes into Place. I was browsing the internet for other pain relieving methods and Came across Arctic ease “CRYOTHERAPY” I was thinking how could a wrap stay cold without the use a freezer right? Wrong! These Wraps Stay cold without the need for refrigeration. Use them and Roll them back up and put 1-2 tablespoons of water in the back to “rehydrate” the Wrap or pads. They have Pain relief pads too!!! They are good for placing on the back stomach or anything else you can thing of.
Well Yesterday 1/16/11 I got up out of the chair took two steps and for review purposes I sprained my ankle. Ok so not really but I really did sprain my ankle for no good reason It just Gave out on me. You have to understand I am very accident Prone. I could Trip on a flat surface, Heck the last time my other ankle got sprained I fell out of a Porta Potty. Hubby Says to me what finer time to review the arctic ease than now. LOL So he goes to the bedroom closet and brings out a wrap. He puts it on my ankle and It was Nice and Cold. You know how if you ice an injury with an Ice pack it gets extremely cold and you have to take the ice pack off every few minutes? Did you know That is Bad for you and your injury? Yep it is 59 degrees is the magic number for adequate healing and not causing more damage. From the outside if you placed your hand on it it doesn’t really feel cold but on the injury it does. I guess its Magic! So after a few hours with the Arctic Ease Wrap on my ankle it started getting dry and loosing cooling effectiveness. So we unwrapped my ankle and put the Wrap back in the pouch with some water and I'm happy to say its ready to use AGAIN! As for my ankle today Very minimal Bruising and the Pain is Mostly gone. I can Walk on it thanks to Arctic Ease.

Glass Straws?? Oh yea The next great thing! I am trying to get more “Green” and Eco Conscious and my family uses straws Like ALOT. So when I got the opportunity to review these glass straws I was Excited . Well I still am LOL. Straws So Awesome They are STRAWSOME!
Daedra the Artist and owner is a very laid back and funny lady. You can tell by how someone communicates with you if they are down to earth or not. She seems like she likes to have fun in her business. :) I like that about her. She Creates these AWESOME Glass Straws. I love the creativity and Love that's put into these straws.
Let me get to the point now. I was sent a Artist’s Choice Straw. I think this straw is a Great Invention. I have been using this straw for a few days. Its Easily Cleaned, And it is great for all types of drinks. She makes Straight ones bendable ones. Plain ones and Straws that has Embellishments. I really thought I was going to get a straw that was EXTREMLY Fragile. These Straws are Unbelievably Strong even at the hands of my 4 and 5 year olds. Heck it even got dropped while I was Washing it. Still No Breaking!
I love these Straws and that is my opinion. I really need more for the other 3 members in my household lol . Tax return is a Coming!

What type of glass are your straws made from? Is it safe?

We use borosilicate glass to make our straws. Here are some facts about this type of glass:

• Type of glass discovered in the late 1800s

Where are your glass straws made?

We personally hand-make all our glass straws in our own workshop in Michigan. Our carrying cases are also manufactured in Michigan. Our cleaning brushes are manufactured in the USA. We use local and environmentally conscious suppliers as much as possible.

Will the colored accents ever wash off or fade away?

No. Whether clear or colored, everything on our straws is glass. Unlike plastic straws that fade and leech toxins into your beverages, glass straws stay beautiful and toxin-free over and over and over again.

Choosing the Right Straw

How do I determine what straw to get?

We offer straws in different lengths and diameters as well as straight and bent to accommodate the different containers and liquids that you may wish to use them with. You basically have four choices to make when selecting a straw:

1. The length or height of the straw: Measure the height of your container(s) and then make sure the straw will be a little taller.
2. The outside diameter of the straw: Consider  the type of beverage(s) that you will use it with. Generally, the thicker the beverage, the bigger you want the diameter of your straw to be. Outside diameters offered are Skinny (7.0mm), Regular (9.5mm), Smoothie (12.7mm) and Bubble Tea (15.0mm). 
3. Straight or Bent: This is a personal preference. The only thing to consider here is that either way, it is fixed. Some customers get one of each if they can't decide on one.
4. Decorative or Non-Decorative: This too is a personal preference, but we recommend choosing a decorative straw that you are attracted to. It will make drinking from it more fun, visually pleasing, and be a great conversation starter. Most customers fall in love with their straws, so we believe you will too!

Can you offer more help in determining what straw to get?

For reference, the average/typical plastic straw you would get at a fast food restaurant is 8 inches in length and regular in diameter. The following list can be used as a rough guide to assist you in determining the perfect straw for your container/beverage:
6" Skinny or Regular - Tea Cup, Small Glass, Kids cups, Wine glasses, Cocktails
6" Smoothie - Again for smaller cups and glasses, but for thicker liquids
8" Skinny - 16 oz Reusable To-Go Cup
8" Regular - Standard Drinking Cup/Glass, 12 oz Beer or Pop Can
8" Smoothie - Standard Drinking Cup/Glass, but for thicker liquids
10" Skinny - 24 oz Reusable To-Go Cup
10" Regular - Mason Jar, 20oz Pop Bottle, Beer Bottle, Starbucks Venti
10" Smoothie - For your thicker liquids in taller glasses
Bubble Tea - These straws are for those trendy tapioca balls. Again, match the straw length with your container height.

I’m new to glass straws and am a little overwhelmed by all the choices.  Do you have a recommendation for first timers?

Yes, we have created a starter set for just this situation.

Cleaning, Storing, Handling

Is it possible to clean these straws without a cleaning brush?

Yes, it is possible to not use a brush. Rinse your straw in hot water and wash with soap immediately after use.  If you forget to clean it right away and the straw dries without being rinsed, you may have trouble cleaning the inside if you don't have a dishwasher. Now you see why we offer a cleaning brush! If you are faithful with rinsing/washing after each use or have a dishwasher to use for regular cleaning, a cleaning brush is not necessary.
One thing to keep in mind with bent straws is that the brush can sometimes be difficult to get in bend. We recommend rinsing in hot water immediately after use to make cleaning a breeze.

Is it safe to put my straw in the dishwasher or microwave?

Yes, it is safe in either appliance. In fact, you may want to sanitize your straw in the dishwasher. Best practice is to set aside a silverware compartment just for your glass straws so that they are not banging around with the silverware.

If my straw is cloudy, how can I get it back to its original shine?

Take a deep breath and relax. This sometimes happens from hard water conditions in the dishwasher. Soak it in distilled white vinegar to return the glass to its original beauty. If you have a cleaning brush you can use after a short soaking, it will speed the results.

Is there a safe way to store my straw when not in use?

Treat your straws with care. If you put them in a drawer, make sure that they will not be disturbed by other items in the drawer. We recommend that you keep them out in the open to show them off! I have been struggling to understand why if I am getting 62000+ page views in a month my Alexa Ranking isn’t moving. What’s up with that! So I did a bit of reading up and I have discovered that Alexa is heavily biased in favor of the techie/webmaster sites. Why? Because they are more likely to have the tools installed that will effect their rankings. So when A webmaster visits another webmaster site it will also effect that sites ranking.
Not a lot of Techie/Webmasters visit Mommy Blogs
Why increase your Alexa Ranking? Because as flawed as it may be, Advertisers and Companies consider your Alexa Ranking when deciding to buy ad space or offer you a review opportunity. Increasing your Alexa Ranking is a must for any PR blogger!
Now, on my quest for information I found a lot of tips and tricks, most of which I didn’t fully understand as it required much more technical knowledge then I currently possess! But one obvious one stood out to me. The Alexa Toolbar!
Webmasters/Techies/SEO Gurus have this installed on their computers. When they visit their own pages and any other page for that matter it effects that site ranking. As I said before, not a lot of Techies visit Mommy Blogs, so Mommy Blogger are gonna have to do it themselves. That’s okay right ladies? We are Mommies and use to having to Do It Ourselves! Bring it on!
Don’t worry, this is painless and simple. All you really need to do is install the toolbar on your computer. Every site you visit, including your own will then benefit from it.
Now, installing this on your computer is the simple part, but I say we as Mommy Bloggers need to unite. Create a Movement to level the playing field among Alexa rankings. How to we do this? Simply encourage as many Bloggers as we can to install this Alexa bar! Every site I visit will be effected, every site they visit will be effected and so on.
We can get Mommy Blogs out of the Depths of Alexa and into the top ranking sites! Can we build it!? YES WE CAN….err…sorry, had a Bob the Builder moment there for a sec.

There is a company online that I found while searching, Its Called the Women’s bean project. What is the Women’s bean project you may ask?  It is a program designed to help women get out of the poverty cycle and the horrible cycle of unemployment. With unemployment going the way it is people losing jobs and cant get unemployment because the companies cant afford to pay it. I have always heard that a woman has a harder time finding a job than a man. It may not be the case, at least not this day in age about 30 years ago yes. Not now. I think the woman's jobs are filled to capacity and there is no room for more. More Women are also going from Stay at home parents to work outside the household because of the economy, The time where a man could work and bring home enough money to pay the bills and live comfortably is pretty much over. I myself stay at home still at this point I enjoy it yes, But I think a job is in my near future. With a light bill of $390.00 This past month something has to give.

The Women’s Bean Project is a great way to help women get out of poverty and find jobs that can help them and their families. So please if you get the Chance go visit maybe donate or Volunteer your time!.


I was given a Lovingly Handmade Large gourmet basket to review. The Gift baskets are all made with Love. Each thing in the basket is Put together with Love from different people. I felt the love as soon as I opened the box with my basket. I got this list of things in my basket.

• Toni's 10 Bean soup. I am a big soup Eater and I put this into a Pot of homemade veggie soup. It made my soup taste like Ive never tasted it before. It was So Delicious.
• Sarah's Spicy Split Pea soup. I am not a Split Pea person, So I cooked these, I was pleasantly Surprised it was actually good!
• Old Fashioned chili WOW! Is all I can say! this was some of the best Chili I have ever put in my mouth!
• Marian's Black Bean soup. I do Not like Black Bean Soup AT ALL. So I gave this to my mom and she made a Mexican dish with it and She said it was really good!
• Firehouse #10 chili  WOW WOW  I really Really Loved this! I am a chili lover anyway so what did you expect ha ha.!
• 6 Bean Certified Organic Soup . This Was great we enjoyed this on a Cold day.
• Cindy's Sinfully Chocolate Brownie mix . ABSOLUTELY HEAVEN!!!! YUMMY even though I only got one bite My husband Devoured these!
• Golden Cornbread mix   This Was also Really Good Hubby said it tasted like his grandmas Corn Bread! I have been trying to perfect it !
• Grammy's Snickerdoodle Cookie mix. Hubby's Favorite he loves Snickerdoodle Cookies and well This did not disappoint him!.

Since 1989, Women's Bean Project has been dedicated to helping women break the cycle of poverty and unemployment.

Our History
Jossy Eyre founded the Women's Bean Project in 1989 as a result of her volunteer work at a day shelter for homeless women. Eyre saw that while the shelter kept women safe, if could not help them make lasting changes in their lives. Eyre bought $500 worth of beans and put two homeless women to work - the first step in building the social enterprise we are today. Our training opportunities have expanded dramatically over the years, and annual operating budget has grown from $6,100 to over $1.5 million.
In 1993, King Soopers became the first grocery store to carry our products.
In 1995, we purchased former Fire Station #10 from the City and County of Denver, and moved to our new home the following year, giving us permanent roots at 3201 Curtis Street.
Today our product offerings have expanded to salsa mixes, spice rubs, coffee beans, and jelly beans in addition to our soups and chili, along with gift baskets, baking mixes and much more.

Whom We Serve
The women hired at the Bean Project have histories of poverty and unemployment; they lack hope and self-confidence; most do not have a GED or high school diploma; most are single mothers and have been on public assistance; many are recovering from experiences with substance abuse and incarceration.
Women find the Bean Project many different ways, but most often are referred by graduates and current program participants. Parole officers, shelters and other service agencies all refer women to the Bean Project.
What We Do
The Women's Bean Project is a social enterprise that offers a transitional job in gourmet food manufacturing designed to provide immediate income, arrange support services to overcome barriers to employment, and teach the job readiness skills needed to get and keep a job. Program participants come from backgrounds of chronic unemployment and poverty, and the program helps them develop the work and interpersonal skills needed to function independently in the workplace and community.
But the Women's Bean Project does not hire women to make and sell bean products. We make and sell bean products to hire women.
Women produce the goods that are sold nationwide as they develop the work and interpersonal skills needed to function independently and effectively in the workplace and community.
The Women's Bean Project:

• Meets basic needs and removes barriers to employment by paying a wage and facilitating support services

• Offers life skills that enhance a woman's ability to govern her own life

• Arranges services that increase employability such as GED and computer classes

• Provide hands-on training in the fundamental job readiness skills required by entry-level employers

Why We Do It
The tools gained during their stay at the Bean Project empower women to create better lives for themselves, provide their families with hope, and contribute to a stronger community.

Laundry hater? Who me no! Well Ok maybe slightly enough to where My husband does laundry most of the time LOL. I was Accepted to be a Purex Insider and I got my first review.
